Starting from the Black Square on a White Backgroundpainted by Malevich in 1915 to its multiplication in today’s barcodes Quick Response, we have to admit that images are less changing than their social. Malevich thus invented almost simultaneously with Kandinsky the abstract painting. Later, in 1920, he changed the meaning of this painting, declaring that he announced with it the death of painting. Splendid paradoxes! Reactivating today this pattern of black squares on white background, l say again that even if everything has been made in painting, as many repeat scornfully, this is not the pigment, nor the composition which make a painting exist, but the social meaning which we give to it.

Those who will scan this painting with their smart phone will read that l celebrate Art, Life, Philosophy. But l also start destroying this QR barcodes to reaffirm too, that art, life and philosophy always escape finally any reductive  system.

Du Carré noir sur fond blanc de Malevitch en 1915 aux carrés noirs sur fond blanc qui se multiplient dans les codes-barres Quick Response d’aujourd’hui, nous voyons bien que l’image change moins que leur sens social. Malevitch inventait ainsi, avec le suprématisme, presqu’en même temps que Kandisnky, la peinture abstraite. Puis, en 1920 il en changea le sens pour nous signifier la mort de la peinture.  Beaux paradoxes! En reprenant aujourd’hui ce thème du carré noir sur fond blanc qui se répand avec les codes-barres QR, je dis que, même si tout a été fait en peinture, comme on le répète à satiété aujourd’hui, ce n’est ni le pigment, ni la composition qui font la peinture : c’est le sens social que nous lui donnons.

Qui scannera cette peinture avec son téléphone intelligent y lira ma célébration de l’art, la vie, la philosophie, mais dont je commence à désarticuler le code-barres QR pour rappeler que la vie, l’art et la philosophie échappent toujours finalement à tout système réducteur.
